BA Psychology and Education Studies

University of Derby

Course overview

This joint degree, BA Psychology and Education Studies at the University of Derby, combines the study of psychology and education studies. This combination helps students become experts in both areas, which is great for their future career chances. In the first year, students study both subjects equally. After that, they can choose to focus more on just one subject (their major) or keep studying them both equally. If they choose to major in psychology, they can get official approval from the British Psychological Society (BPS).

The teaching team consists of qualified academics who are active research experts. They conduct important psychological research, particularly in crucial areas like mental health and well-being. Students' learning will be assessed through a practical and academic blend of work, including essays, case studies, presentations, and group projects. Furthermore, the Education Studies element of the course ensures students develop a fantastic understanding of educational equality, current policy affecting schools, and effective teaching practice.

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information about their studies.
