BSc Cyber Investigations with Digital Forensics

University of Lancashire

Course overview

The BSc Cyber Investigations with Digital Forensics at the University of Lancashire is a very specialised course that combines investigation skills and computer science to train students to solve crimes that involve technology. The course brings together subjects from Law, Policing, and Computing to meet the rising demand for experts who can investigate digital crimes in both private companies and public organisations like the police.

The way students learn is very practical, using excellent facilities like the Hydra Minerva Suite and Crime Scene Houses for training that feels like real life. Students get to practise their skills in true work settings, for example, within the University’s Missing Persons Investigation Unit or the Cyber Clinic. Their work is judged through methods like scenario-based assessments that copy real events, along with a large final-year Project based on a current problem.

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information about their studies. An academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience. The University takes into account all educational achievements, work experience, and personal background when assessing applications.
