BEng Motorsports Engineering

University of Lancashire

Course overview

This BEng Motorsports Engineering at the University of  Lancashire is designed to train top-flight motorsport professionals by teaching engineering science and applying it practically. Students will build skills in design and development processes through project-based learning and masterclasses, focusing on areas like engineering analysis, mechanics, and fluid dynamics.

An important element of this programme involves students working together in a team to design and build a Formula Student race car, which allows them to compete in an international competition at Silverstone. The programme offers an optional 48-week industrial placement year in between the second and final year.

Students are assessed through formal examinations, reports, presentations, interviews, and portfolio commentaries. Students are encouraged to join the Motorsport Club to gain extra-curricular experience by preparing and racing Formula Ford and Eco-marathon cars.
