BSc Sports Therapy Top-up
Course overview
The BSc Sports Therapy Top-up at University College Birmingham is designed for students who already hold a related qualification, such as a Foundation Degree or HND. This course helps students build on their current knowledge and skills to achieve an advanced level in Sports Therapy. The programme prepares graduates to become skilled Graduate Sports Therapists eligible for membership with The Society of Sports Therapists.
This course places strong emphasis on practical learning. Students gain hands-on experience by working with clients in the university’s clinics and at major sporting events. Modules include topics such as Professional Clinical Practice and Exercise as Medicine, with the programme culminating in a final independent research project.
Entry requirements
Applicants must submit a personal statement detailing their motivation for the course and relevant academic background. A reference from an academic or employer is also required. Applicants may include a CV to highlight relevant experience. Additionally, as this programme involves working with children and vulnerable adults, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory.
Grade Requirements
- A relevant HND or Foundation Degree in Sports Therapy with 240 credits.
- International qualifications in a related subject are considered; applicants should have achieved 120 ECTS or equivalent.
English Language Requirements
- IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.0, with no component below 5.5 (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking).
- Equivalent SELT scores such as TOEFL (iBT) or PTE Academic are also accepted.
