BSc Honours Radiotherapy and Oncology with Foundation Year

Sheffield Hallam University

Course overview

The BSc (Honours) Radiotherapy and Oncology with Foundation Year at Sheffield Hallam University trains students to be therapeutic radiographers, teaching them to use advanced equipment to give accurate and effective radiation treatments, mostly to people with cancer. The course includes a Foundation Year at the start to help students who need more academic preparation or who do not meet the usual degree requirements. When they are done, they will be able to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) to become registered professionals.

The learning and assessment for this course use a blend of methods: lessons at the university, online classes, and actual work placements in radiotherapy and cancer departments. Students will gain practical experience using modern simulation suites, which are practice rooms made to look exactly like real clinics. They will study alongside other healthcare staff. Their progress will be tested using coursework, practical skills exams, and checks on their abilities in a clinical setting.
