Course overview
The BEng Mechanical Engineering from Robert Gordon University prepares students to engage in the design, construction and operation of machines, structures and industrial plants for a wide range of industries. Students study from small components through to large-scale systems, learning to apply logic and method to solve real-life engineering problems with conflicting requirements.
For learning and assessment, the first two years build core knowledge in mathematics, mechanics, thermofluids, materials and engineering systems with lectures, tutorials, labs and workshops and undertake an individual research or industrial project, advanced specialist modules, and all year-4 marks count towards your honours classification in the final year.
Entry requirements
Candidates of the BEng Mechanical Engineering at Robert Gordon University are required to submit a personal statement explaining their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information about their academic or professional background with an academic or employer. Applicants have the option to upload their CVs to show their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- Applicants need Scottish Higher grades BBCC, including Mathematics and one of Engineering Science, Physics or Technological Studies.
- Equivalent international qualifications, access courses, HNDs, or other approved prior learning may be considered on an individual basis.
English Proficiency:
- Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the university's minimum English language requirements, an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.5 in every section.
- Applicants can submit equivalent test scores, such as TOEFL and PTE.
