MSc Nursing Mental Health

Nottingham Trent University

Course overview

This is a two-year, full-time master's degree built to qualify graduates from any subject background to become registered mental health nurses. The programme uses a combined learning approach, blending academic study with extensive practice placements in healthcare environments. After completing the course, students are eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Their learning splits roughly in half between classroom-learned theory and clinical practice placements, where their skills are used. Performances are checked through Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), case studies, essays, written reflections, presentations, and a final dissertation. This detailed structure ensures they develop high-quality care skills.
