BSc Psychology with Counselling

Nottingham Trent University

Course overview

This exciting degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and allows students to combine the core science of psychology with a special focus on counselling skills. Students will study how the brain works and how people think and behave, alongside learning about major counselling models and developing basic practical skills.

The course includes work-like experience, and students have the option of a one-year work placement in Year 3. Students will learn counselling techniques and tools through practical exercises and study issues clients bring to therapy. In their final year, they will complete a major research project on a psychology topic of their choice.

Entry requirements

Candidates for admission are required to submit a personal statement in which students discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. An academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.
