BSc Computer Networking and Cyber Security including foundation year

Course Overview

The BSc Computer Networking and Cyber Security (including foundation year) will help students to specialise in the network and application security of modern hardware and software systems. In the foundation year, students will focus on learning the core principles of cyber security, robotics and the Internet of Things, mathematics and programming.

The skills they gain during this year will fully prepare them for the practical learning and study involved in the following three years of the BSc Computer Networking and Cyber Security. Students will be taught within the Cyber Security Research Centre, a dedicated collaborative facility that brings industry partners into the University. They will also be exposed to live projects from a variety of industries, including intech, cyber security and digital forensic businesses.

The course has been accredited with full CITP status by the British Computer Society, The Chartered Institute for IT. This accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by BCS. As a graduate of this course, students will also be entitled to professional membership of BCS, which is an important part of the criteria for achieving Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to have 32 UCAS tariff points from at least one A-level or an equivalent Level 3 qualification such as a BTEC Diploma.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds usually need an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four components.
  • Alternatively, equivalent qualifications like PTE and TOEFL are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For international students, the full-time tuition fee for the BSc Computer Networking and Cyber Security (including foundation year) in London Metropolitan University is £19,500 per year.
