MSc Human Evolution

Course Overview

The MSc Human Evolution course at Liverpool John Moores University is a joint programme with the University of Liverpool. It is designed to give students advanced practical and theoretical experience in human evolution research. Throughout the course, students will learn about the human fossil record, ancient DNA, proteomics, and Neanderthal archaeology. The programme also includes practical training in archaeological fieldwork, such as excavating and documenting human remains, and uses specific laboratory facilities for the study of bones.

The course uses several ways to assess students' progress, including coursework like written reports, essays, and critiques. There are also tests and oral presentations. The assessments are designed to give students regular feedback on their performance. A focus on practical assessments, such as fieldwork and reports on stone tools, helps students connect with real-world research.
