MArch Architecture

The Liverpool John Moores University MArch Architecture is a research-informed and nationally respected course that has been accredited for over 40 years. It is a design-intensive and research-led course that responds to the contemporary challenges of the profession. The course is taught through a studio setting, supported by lectures and workshops. The main aim is to create graduates who have artistic ability, are technically skilled, and have an understanding of the demands of the professional role of an architect.

The course focuses on the relationship between architecture and the contemporary city, with students working on a different city each year. This is supported by seminars and taught modules on urban design, professional practice, and contemporary approaches to sustainability.

For those interested in global business, LJMU’s MSc International Business and Management course has a special module created by Harvard Business School called ‘Microeconomics of Competitiveness’. Candidates are required to submit a personal statement, and a relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV to demonstrate their work experience. Candidates will also need to attend an interview.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants need a minimum of a second-class honours degree in Architecture.
• Applicants must have obtained Grade C or Grade 4 or above in English Language and Mathematics GCSE or an approved alternative qualification.

English Proficiency:

• Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to submit test scores such as IELTS, PTE Academic, or TOEFL. The typical requirement is an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.

The tuition fee for the MArch Architecture programme is £18,250 per year for international students.

Liverpool John Moores University offers scholarships to postgraduate students, including the International Postgraduate Achievement Scholarship, which provides a £3,500 tuition fee discount. There are also GREAT Scholarships available, each worth £10,000. These scholarships are generally awarded automatically to eligible, self-funded students who meet the required criteria.
