LLM Legal Practice SQE 1 and 2

Course Overview

The LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1 and 2) at Liverpool John Moores University will get you ready for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and help you learn the practical skills you need to be a lawyer. The course builds on your legal knowledge and allows you to apply it through activities such as workplace simulations, real client work, and practical skills modules.

Developed in partnership with BARBRI, the world’s largest provider of legal learning, the programme offers structured SQE preparation with diagnostic testing, multiple-choice practice, and personalised study support. You will also have the chance to get experience at LJMU's Legal Advice Centre, where you can work with real clients and start building your Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).

When you finish your degree, you will have an LLM degree, be well-prepared for the SQE exams, and have the confidence to start your legal career in England and Wales.

About University

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a public university in Liverpool, England. It started in 1823 as the Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts and became a full university in 1992. The university was named after a local businessman, Sir John Moores, who started the Littlewoods company.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

Grade Requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree in law or any undergraduate degree plus the common professional examination/Graduate Diploma in Law (or its equivalent) is required to study this course.

English Proficiency:

  • International students are required to demonstrate proficiency in English with an IELTS overall score of 6.5 or above (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component).

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the 2025/26 academic year to study the LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1 and 2) at Liverpool John Moores University is £13,230.
