BSc Children s Nursing

Course Overview

The BSc Children’s Nursing at Kingston University prepares you to care for children and young people at all stages of life, from infancy through adolescence. It is also your route to becoming a registered children’s nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

You will learn the basics of children’s nursing and develop your skills step by step. You will be taught by experienced nurses and have the chance to work with children and their families in real healthcare environments. During the course, you will study how children grow and develop, learn how to check their health, and practise giving safe and effective care using the latest knowledge.

You’ll also gain hands-on experience in hospitals and community placements. Past students have trained at well-known London hospitals, including Great Ormond Street, St George’s, Kingston, Croydon, and Chelsea and Westminster.

Studying BSc Children’s Nursing at Kingston University includes time in our award-winning simulation suite, where you’ll practise your skills in a safe, realistic environment. Using full-body manikins and role players, you’ll develop the confidence to care for children in a variety of settings, including emergency, high dependency, and palliative care.

About University

Kingston University is a school in Kingston upon Thames, a town near the river in South West London. It started as a technical school in 1899 and became a university in 1992.

The university has four main schools: Business, Social Science, Engineering, Art, and Health. A lot of the classes give students hands-on experience through projects and work placements. Kingston also does research in many different areas.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

  • All candidates are encouraged to gain some practical work experience in a care setting before starting the course.

  • If your initial application is successful, you'll be invited to an online interview. This will include a series of short value-based questions, tasks or scenarios

Grade Requirements:

  • A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points, preferably with some health and science subjects studied, is required to study this course. 

  • To achieve this, you need qualifications such as A-Levels at BBB; BTEC Extended Diploma at DMM; and an Access to HE course with 30 Distinctions, 9 Merits, and 6 at Pass.  

English Proficiency:

  • An IELTS overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with at least 5.5 in each of the four components is required from international students to demonstrate proficiency in English.  

Cost of Study

The tuition fee to study the BSc Children's Nursing for the 2025/2026 academic session is £18,800. Kindly note that fees are paid annually and are subject to increase.

Scholarships

Kingston University has different scholarships and money help for students from other countries. For example, the International Scholarship can give postgraduate students up to £5,000 off their first year of study. To get it, you must fill out a form when you apply. You also have to pay for your studies to be considered.
