Course overview

The MSc International Master in Industrial Management at Heriot-Watt University is a 16-month full-time programme. It is designed for students who have a background in Science or Engineering and want to work in management in companies that make products or provide services worldwide. The course gives you the chance to study at partner institutions in Scotland, Spain, the UAE, Mexico, and Italy. This offers a rich international experience across a range of cultural and industrial settings.

You’ll explore current and emerging challenges in industrial management and develop the business and leadership skills needed to succeed in international organisations. When you finish the programme successfully, you will receive two degrees: one from Heriot-Watt University and another from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. 

Entry requirements

To apply for admission, you are required to submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended, regardless of whether a degree was awarded. Additionally, a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing your educational background, work experience, research activities, and any relevant achievements should be included with your application.

Grade Requirements: 

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree or recognised equivalent from an accredited institution in a scientific or technical discipline, including Management Engineering courses. 

English Proficiency:  

  • Non-native English speakers will be required to show proof of English proficiency. The minimum English language requirement for entry to this programme is an IELTS score of 6.0 with no score lower than 5.5.

    The New Dawn Energy Scholarship provides £1900 towards living costs to two students enrolling on our MSc in Petroleum Engineering in September 2026.
