MEng Aerospace Engineering

Course Overview

The MEng Aerospace Engineering at Heriot-Watt University is an integrated master's degree, structured as a five-year full-time undergraduate programme. The curriculum is designed to address the contemporary and future requirements of the aeronautical sector.

Throughout the course, students acquire essential skills in problem-solving, component analysis, and design. In the early years, a strong foundation in mechanical engineering is established; later stages allow for specialisation through a Group Design Project and various optional modules such as Spacecraft Engineering, Industrial and Sustainable Aerodynamics, and Aerospace Simulation. The final year involves a significant aerospace design project using advanced equipment like wind tunnels and industry-standard software.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

Applicants must submit a personal statement, academic or employer reference, and optionally, a CV to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements: 

  • Applicants need Highers ABBB (including Mathematics at grade B) or A-Levels BBC-ABB, an International Baccalaureate or a BTEC Extended Diploma. 
  • Similar international qualifications are also accepted.

English Proficiency: 

  • Applicants need to score 6.0 overall in IELTS, with no individual component score falling below 5.5.
  • TOEFL and PTE are also accepted.

The tuition fee for the MEng Aerospace Engineering at Heriot-Watt University for International Students is £25,008 per year.
