DPsych Health Psychology

Course Overview

The DPsych Health Psychology is a three-year programme that provides training to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills to become effective Health Psychologists. The programme is designed to meet the British Psychological Society's (BPS) accreditation standards for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 training in Health Psychology, making students eligible for the Practitioner Psychologist status.

It covers key areas like research, teaching and training, consultancy, behaviour change interventions, and professional skills. Learning occurs through lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions. Assessment is conducted through essays, presentations, research projects, and a doctoral thesis.

  • Applicants need at least a 2:1  honours undergraduate degree in Psychology, which meets the British Psychological Society (BPS) standards for the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC). 
  • Relevant work experience or credits from recognised professional bodies, you might also be considered through the University's Recognition of Prior Learning scheme.

English Proficiency:

  • If English is not your first language, you need to achieve an overall score of 7.0 in IELTS, with no individual component score lower than 6.5.

Cost of Study

For international students, the annual full-time tuition fee for the DPsych Health Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University is £15,500. Note that fees are subject to increase, typically up to 5%.
