BSc Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology
Course overview
The BSc Psychology with Clinical and Health Perspective at Edge Hill University teaches students how psychology applies to health and clinical situations. The course focuses on how thoughts, feelings, and behaviour are linked to wellbeing, mental health, and physical health. Students are taught basic psychology ideas such as how the brain works, memory, and behaviour. Students are taught research methods and data analysis to understand how psychologists collect and use evidence. Through classes, workshops, and seminars, students learn how to think like psychologists and practise skills they will use in work settings.
Learning is through lectures, seminars, workshops, and self-directed study. Students use labs and practical spaces to practise real psychology tasks. Assessment methods include essays, reports, portfolios, group work, presentations, and written exams. Students also get opportunities to do research projects and may take a work placement. Teaching is by experts in clinical and health psychology who use real examples from research and practice. There is also support for personal development, teamwork, and communication skills. Students will work on a final research project that shows what they have learned. The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), the first step towards postgraduate training in psychology for students who want to become chartered psychologists.
