BSc Forensic Psychology

Course Overview

This course gives a comprehensive background in the key psychological methods of studying human behaviour, with special emphasis laid on the subject of crime and the criminal justice system. It is a study of psychological theory, research and practical skills which will enable you to learn how psychology is applied in the real world. The programme also looks at forensic psychology as seen in popular culture and equips you with information on various criminal behaviours.

Your assessment is done through many ways, such as tests, essays, group projects, presentations and reports. In addition, students have the option of doing a work placement or an international study abroad year, which is a practical working period and offers working skills. The course is recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS), and after successfully passing your exams, you can become eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), as long as you have at least a 2:2.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

To be enrolled, candidates are required to submit a personal statement and a relevant academic and/or employer reference. Students also have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants will need 112 UCAS tariff points, including qualifications like A Levels, a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma, an Access to HE Diploma, or the International Baccalaureate.
  • The university also accepts equivalent international qualifications to A Levels.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds require an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no section score lower than 5.5, or submit equivalent test scores, such as the PTE or TOEFL.

Cost of Study

The annual tuition fee for international students on the BSc Forensic Psychology at Coventry University is £18,300.

Scholarships

Coventry University provides various scholarships and bursaries to help students finance their studies. International students may be eligible for the Vice-Chancellor Undergraduate Scholarship, which can provide a reduction of up to £4,000 on the tuition fee for a three-year bachelor's degree. There is also the EU Support Bursary for eligible students and the Coventry University Sports Scholarships for those with high-level sporting ability.
