MSc Advanced Practice Dietetics

Course Overview

The MSc Advanced Practice (Dietetics) is a specialist pathway within the flexible MSc Advanced Practice in Healthcare programme, normally studied on a part-time basis over three years. The core objective is to develop autonomous, reflective practitioners who are engaged in advanced practice within clinical, organisational, and professional healthcare settings.

The programme encourages best practice and innovation across the four pillars of advanced practice: Research and Audit, Leadership and Management, Clinical Practice, and Education. Dietetics students select 60 credits of specialist modules, ensuring the content is directly relevant to their clinical specialism and professional learning needs.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants must normally be registered Dieticians with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), hold a relevant first degree, and be able to demonstrate a minimum of two years of recent and relevant professional experience in an appropriate setting.
  • The programme considers Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for previous master’s level studies or uncredited continuing professional development.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to score 7.0 overall in IELTS Academic, with a minimum of 6.5 in each section (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
  • Equivalent qualifications, such as acceptable Secure English Language Test (SELT) scores, will also be considered for admission.
