BSc Sport Performance Analysis

The BSc (Hons) Sport Performance Analysis with Foundation Year at Cardiff Metropolitan University is a four-year full-time degree that begins with a foundation year. The foundation year helps students who did not meet the standard entry grades or mature students who need to refresh their study skills. Students learn to measure technical effectiveness, track athlete movement, assess tactics, and analyse coach and athlete behaviour. Modules also include performance technologies, coaching pedagogy, skill acquisition, data visualisation, and technique feedback.

The programme emphasises employability. Students develop skills through work-based learning, placements, feedback from coaches, and real-world performance analysis. The course mixes theory and practice so that students can observe real performance, use lab and field work, and gain hands-on professional skills. There are optional placements, guest lectures, and work-based learning, so students build experience and professional identity before graduation. Students are taught using lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, practical labs, and field sessions. Assessment is through written coursework, report writing, portfolios, practical skills, and a final project.
