BSc Physiotherapy

Course Overview

The Buckinghamshire New University Physiotherapy programme is a three-year degree that offers a route into the Physiotherapy profession. The course is designed to meet the skills and standards set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). The course focuses on helping students become knowledgeable and caring physiotherapists who can work with many patient groups.

This course uses different teaching methods, including face-to-face sessions supported by technology, requiring university attendance no more than three days a week. The course focuses on practical skills and problem-based learning, backed up by lectures, online materials, and tutorials. Professional skills and clinical practice are learned through practical sessions and workshops. Students will also gain experience through clinical placements, preparing them for work in various healthcare settings.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to include their CV along with their applications to show their work experience. All offers are subject to a successful interview, occupational health clearance, and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Grade Requirements: 

  • Applicants for the BSc Physiotherapy programme need a UCAS tariff score of 112 - 136 points. This usually requires A Levels, BTEC, T Levels, or International Baccalaureate. 
  • A-level equivalent international qualifications are also accepted.

English Proficiency: 

  • If English is not your main language, you must have an IELTS score of 7.0 overall, with no individual component score falling below 6.5. 
  • The university also accepts comparable scores from other approved English language tests, such as PTE, with an overall score of 59 (minimum 51 in all areas), or TOEFL with an overall score of 80 (minimums apply for each section).

Cost of Study

For international students, the full-time tuition fee for the BSc Physiotherapy at Buckinghamshire New University for the 2025/26 academic year is £15,150 per year.

Scholarships

Buckinghamshire New University offers various scholarships for international students. These include the Vice-Chancellor's International Student Scholarship, which provides a fee reduction, with undergraduate students receiving £1,500 in their first year. Postgraduate students may receive £3,000, and those on specific courses like International MBA or MSc Cyber Security could get £5,000. These are generally for self-funded students with a programme length of at least one year and tuition fees of £15,000 or more. Eligible students holding an offer are automatically considered for this scholarship.
