BA Sports Coaching with Performance Sport
Course overview
This four-year undergraduate programme, starting with a foundation year, prepares students for a rewarding career in sports coaching. The first year provides a strong academic foundation, covering human behaviour, research principles, and communication skills, alongside an exploration of human sciences relevant to sport. This preparatory phase ensures students are fully equipped for the challenges of degree-level study, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application in sports environments.
Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students progress to the main degree. The curriculum blends academic study with hands-on coaching experiences, allowing application of theoretical concepts in practical settings. Entry requirements
Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CVs along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- Applicants typically need between 32 and 56 UCAS Tariff points, which can be achieved through A Levels, BTEC, T Levels, or International Baccalaureate.
- A-level equivalent international qualifications are also accepted by the university.

Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to score 6.0 overall in IELTS, with no section scoring below 5.5, or submit equivalent test scores, like PTE and TOEFL.
