BSc Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence with a Foundation Year

Course Overview

This four-year BSc Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence with a Foundation Year course at Birmingham City University is for students who do not have the grades to start the regular three-year degree in this subject. The first year, called the foundation year, will teach you the basics of computers, maths, and science, which will help you prepare for the rest of the degree.

In this course, students will learn important basic skills like programming, how computer systems work, and how to solve problems, and this will give them a strong start for learning more advanced things later on.

After you finish the foundation year successfully, you will automatically move on to the regular three-year BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence degree. This degree will teach you what you need to work as a computer programmer, software builder, website creator, or in other jobs related to computers and AI. In this course, students will learn through lectures, small group discussions, and hands-on work in computer labs, and will be assessed through assignments, presentations, practical tasks, and exams.
