BSc Biomedical Science with Foundation Year

Course Overview

The BSc Biomedical Science with Foundation Year at Birmingham City University is a four-year programme. It is for students who would benefit from additional preparation before starting the full degree. During the foundation year, students will be introduced to Science, Mathematics, and Academic Writing at a higher level.

Once the foundation year is complete, students move on to the main Biomedical Science degree. This includes studying cell biology, genetics, anatomy, and clinical biochemistry. The course has also been accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).

Learning is through lectures, lab work, tutorials, and workshops. Assessment methods include examinations, lab reports, presentations, and coursework.

Entry Requirements

Grade Requirements

  • International students need 80 UCAS Tariff points from three A Levels to qualify for this course.
  • A Science subject at A Level, or a Level 3 equivalent with a grade C or above, is considered.
  • Applicants need a T Level in a Science subject, with an overall Pass (grade C or above).
  • International students need an Access to HE Diploma Pass with 60 credits and 45 credits at level 3 in a Science subject.
  • An International Baccalaureate Diploma with at least 24 points overall is accepted.

English Proficiency

  • For international students, an overall IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in each component is required.

Cost of Study
