BEng Electronic Engineering with a Foundation Year

The Birmingham City University BEng Electronic Engineering Foundation programme aims to equip students with a good number of skills, preparing them to become capable electronic engineers. 

The programme also provides access to contemporary technology and resources, along with opportunities for industry placements to gain valuable practical experience. This course is undertaken over an extended full-time duration of four years, commencing with a Foundation Certificate.

The curriculum focuses on project-based activities, allowing students to collaborate in teams on projects from initial design to implementation. Students gain an understanding of the social, commercial, legal, ethical, economic, and environmental aspects associated with engineering. They also develop key abilities such as problem-solving, project planning, presentation, and communication skills essential for professional practice.

To be enrolled, you need to submit a personal statement in which you discuss your reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding your studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. You also have the option to upload your CV to show your work experience.

Grade Requirements: 

• Applicants typically need 80 UCAS Tariff points, which is equivalent to CDD at A-Level, Pearson BTEC (Diploma / Extended Diploma/ Extended Certificate), or T-level. 
• Additionally, international qualifications equivalent to A-levels are accepted.

English Proficiency: 

• For applicants whose primary language is not English, an IELTS score of 6.0 overall is required, with no individual component scoring below 5.5. 
• Other equivalent English language test scores, such as PTE and TOEFL, can also be submitted.

The annual tuition fee for international students taking the Birmingham City University BEng Electronic Engineering Foundation programme is £17,690.
