MSc Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Systems

University of Sussex

Course overview

The MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Systems programme focuses on theoretical issues and practical techniques for designing and implementing intelligent and adaptive systems. The course covers major areas such as machine learning, mathematics for complex systems, and adaptive systems, which will help to prepare graduates for research and development careers. Students can also shape their studies around specialist subdisciplines, including robotics, data science, and computational biology.

Learning methods include lectures, seminars, and a Major Project, which is a substantial, individual piece of work that may be practical or theoretical and can sometimes involve an industry partner. Assessment is continuous and based on coursework and a dissertation from the project. The one-year course is also available as a two-year option that includes an industrial placement year.
