MEng Computer Science

The MEng in Computer Science is an integrated master's that builds on the BSc, adding a final year to reach a master's level. Students learn computing topics like artificial intelligence, computational mathematics, computer security and object-oriented programming and gain experience with tools and languages such as Java, C++, Android, SQL, Python, MATLAB and Raspberry Pi hardware.

The programme is taught through lectures, labs and projects prepared specifically to help students design, implement and troubleshoot software and systems to a professional standard, with assessment including practical coursework, programming assignments and examinations.

The course has strong support from the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants should hold a UK first or upper second-class honours degree (or international equivalent) in computer science or a related discipline.
• Applicants with a degree in a different subject may be considered if they have significant relevant work experience in computing or a related field.

English Proficiency:

• Candidates without an English-speaking background are required to have an IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each section.
• An equivalent Secure English Language Test (SELT) is also accepted

International students of MEng Computer Science at the University of Surrey pay £26,000 per year.
