BEng Sustainable Design Engineering

The BEng Sustainable Design Engineering course provides students with a strong foundation in modern engineering systems, concepts, and design techniques. It prepares graduates to work effectively in engineering industries by focusing on sustainability, manufacturing systems design, ethics, and digital technologies. The curriculum includes key topics such as sustainable engineering, smart factories, and the integration of digital manufacturing tools.

Students learn through seminars, tutorials, group projects, and collaborative activities with other engineering disciplines such as electrical and mechanical engineering. Assessment methods include online assessments, coursework, group work, and laboratory demonstrations. This course does not feature formal examinations, allowing students to focus on practical, applied learning and problem-solving experience.

Applicants must provide a personal statement, academic and/or employer references, a portfolio showcasing relevant work, and a CV detailing academic background and experience. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview as part of the selection process.

Grade Requirements:

• 96–112 UCAS points, achieved through A-levels, BTEC, T Levels, or equivalent qualifications.
• Equivalent international qualifications to A-levels are accepted.

English Proficiency:

• IELTS overall score of 6.0, with no component below 5.5.
• Other accepted English tests include PTE Academic and Cambridge Assessment English.

The tuition fee for international students enrolled in the BEng Sustainable Design Engineering programme at the University of Sunderland is £16,500 per year.
