MSc Adult Nursing Pre-registration

Course Overview

The University of Suffolk MSc Adult Nursing (Pre-registration) programme is designed for graduates who are from non-nursing backgrounds and wish to become a Registered Nurse (Adult). The course is delivered through various theory modules alongside extensive clinical placements in various settings, which will allow students to quickly build the professional skills and experience that are required for adult care.

Students will split their time between 50% clinical practice (a minimum of 2,300 hours) and 50% theoretical study (2,300 hours). Students in this course will be involved in placements, which may include work in acute wards, community nursing, and specialist areas. These placements involve working 37.5 hours per week across a 24-hour shift pattern, including nights and weekends. Successful completion of this course leads to eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement and a relevant academic and/or employer reference. Students must also complete a Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) document and consent to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and Health check.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need a lower second-class (2:2) in a science-related subject or an upper second-class (2:1) Honours degree in any subject.
  • All applicants must also provide evidence of previous clinical experience, completing a minimum of 750 hours in a relevant care setting, verified by a manager.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants whose first language is not English must achieve an IELTS score of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in each component.
  • Equivalent acceptable test scores like PTE or TOEFL are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The annual tuition fee for international students on the MSc Adult Nursing (Pre-registration) at the University of Suffolk is £18,470.

Scholarships

Students on the MSc Adult Nursing (Pre-registration) degree may be eligible for financial support through the NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF). This fund offers eligible students a non-repayable training grant of up to £5,000 per academic year, depending on their individual circumstances.
