BSc Psychology

Course Overview

The BSc Psychology programme offers a basic scientific understanding of the human mind and behaviour, consciously and unconsciously. Students will learn the major psychological fields, which are social, cognitive, biological, and developmental psychology. The course requires training in qualitative and quantitative research methods, which will help students think critically when analysing theories and research evidence.

The BSc Psychology course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), which qualifies students for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) after finishing the programme. GBC is necessary to give students access to professional practice in areas such as clinical or educational psychology. Students will have access to upgraded facilities, including a new lab in the £13 million Health and Wellbeing Building.

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

Grade Requirements

  • Candidates need 112 UCAS points including A-levels, BTEC or equivalent.
  • Other International qualifications equivalent to A-levels are also accepted.
  • A GCSE at grade 4 or C or above in English and Mathematics is accepted.

English Proficiency

  • Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.0 in the IELTS test, with no component below 5.5.
  • PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The international students’ tuition fee for the BSc Psychology programme at the University of Suffolk is £15,090.

Scholarships

The University of Strathclyde offers various scholarships to help international students fund their master's degrees. Strathclyde University offers a scholarship of up to £12,000 for some students and a 15% tuition fee discount for its own graduates who are looking to study a postgraduate course.

Some students may get awards from £9,000 to £12,000, while others may qualify for scholarships worth £6,000 to £8,000 by applying for postgraduate courses. Students from Commonwealth countries also have opportunities through partnerships with the university. Industries sponsor scholarships available to international students, which can also lead to internship opportunities.

EU students, now considered international students due to the UK's exit from the EU, enjoy scholarships that help reduce increased tuition fees. Eligible students starting a postgraduate taught course will receive an award ranging from £5,000 to £12,000, depending on their faculty. They do not need to apply separately; if eligible, students are automatically notified.
