BEng Naval Architecture with Ocean Engineering
Course overview
The BEng (Hons) Naval Architecture with Ocean Engineering at the University of Strathclyde prepares you for a career in the design of ships, offshore platforms, and ocean energy systems. The knowledge you will gain during your study of this course prepares you to address some of the biggest challenges facing the maritime industry today, from creating more sustainable vessels to developing renewable energy solutions that harness the power of the ocean.
The course is hands-on, interactive, and linked to industry practice. Learning takes place through lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and collaborative design projects, giving you the chance to apply theory in practical ways. Many of these projects are based on real-world engineering problems to help you build the problem-solving skills and teamwork experience that employers value.
You will also benefit from access to world-class facilities and advanced testing equipment. Using industry-standard software and simulation tools, you will be able to test and refine designs just as professional naval architects and ocean engineers do. Assessment is carried out in different ways and helps to measure your progress and strengths. It includes written exams, technical reports, group design projects, coursework, and presentations.
