BA Psychology Economics

Course Overview

The BA Hons Psychology and Economics at the University of Strathclyde is an undergraduate degree that blends the science of mind and behaviour with the study of how economies work. It helps students develop both people skills and data skills. Students will learn psychology topics such as perception, learning, social behaviour, and mental health. Economics topics will cover markets, supply and demand, public policy, and how economies grow and change. Students use both statistics and data analysis to study human behaviour and economic trends.

From the first year, students get both psychology and economics work. There are lectures, small group classes, and labs in psychology and economic modelling. In later years, students choose more advanced modules in both subjects. Modules include experimental psychology, economic theory, behavioural economics, mental health, statistical methods, and policy evaluation. Students also do a final year project or dissertation where they study something that links psychology and economics. The project helps students show research, writing, and thinking skills. Students are taught through lectures, seminars, group work and lab experiments. Assessment happens through essays, exams, statistics tests, presentations, and the final project.
