Course Overview

The MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Portsmouth helps you improve your skills and knowledge so you can build a successful career in engineering. About University

The University of Portsmouth is a public university in Portsmouth, England. The university began in 1870 as a school for science and art. Over time, the school grew and changed. In the 1960s, it became Portsmouth Polytechnic. Then, in 1992, it officially became the University of Portsmouth, meaning it could give out its degrees. Since then, it has kept growing and improving, always focusing on teaching practical skills and doing research that helps the real world.

The University of Portsmouth is a modern university that offers many practical courses. The university has five faculties, namely: Business and Law; Creative and Cultural Industries; Humanities and Social Sciences; Science and Health; and Technology. 

The university strongly focuses on getting students ready for jobs. Many courses include work experience in real companies, client projects, and practical tasks. The university's research is also very important globally, with much of it considered "world-leading."

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

Grade Requirements:

  • A second-class honours degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications is required to study this course. 

English Proficiency:

  • International students whose first language is not English are to show proficiency in English with an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no component score below 5.5. 

Cost of Study

The full-time tuition fee to study the MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Portsmouth is £19,200. Please note that the fee quoted is for the 2025/2026 academic session only.

Scholarships

International students at the University of Portsmouth have access to several scholarships that help ease their financial burden. For instance, the Chancellor’s Global Academic Merit Scholarship offers up to £5,000 towards a reduction in tuition fees. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be a self-funded international student. You will also have to fill out an online form to be considered. Please note that this scholarship applies only to a year of study.
