MSc Clinical Psychology

University of Kent

Course overview

The MSc Clinical Psychology at the University of Kent is a full-time Master’s degree designed for students who want to deepen their understanding of mental health and psychological wellbeing. Building on your undergraduate psychology background, this course acts as a key stepping stone toward becoming a clinical psychologist. It prepares graduates for PhD research or progression to the three-year Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych), which is required for professional practice in the UK.

Teaching is highly practical and engaging, combining lectures, small seminars, hands-on workshops, role-play therapy sessions, and guest talks from practising NHS psychologists. Assessment is entirely coursework-based, with no written exams. Students complete essays, real patient case studies, recordings of therapy practice, research proposals, statistical tasks, group presentations, and a final dissertation.

By the time you graduate, you will be well prepared to apply for Assistant Psychologist roles within the NHS or to progress directly into further clinical or research training.
