MSc Manufacturing Management with Extended Professional Practice
Course overview
This two-year master's programme is set up as a "sandwich" programme, which gives students a full, ordered understanding of manufacturing management. The studies cover essential topics like product design, smart manufacturing, logistics, and operations strategy. The course combines classroom theory with a long period of practical work in a real job.
The core feature is the Extended Professional Practice, where students must complete a one-year industry placement in engineering after their first year. This placement gives them valuable hands-on experience and boosts their professional skills before they come back to finish their final MSc Individual Project.
Entry requirements
Candidates must submit a personal statement in which they outline their reasons for applying for the course and submit other information regarding their studies. An employer reference is also needed. Students have the choice to upload their CVs alongside their applications to display their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- Applicants need at least a second-class undergraduate degree (a 2:2 Honours or above) in an engineering field or another suitable science or related discipline.
- International qualifications will be taken based on their equivalence to UK qualifications, which is assessed by a resource such as the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC).
English Language Requirements:
- Applicants who are non-English speakers need to score 6.0 overall in IELTS or submit equivalent Secure English Language Test (SELT) scores. Those who do not meet this requirement may still be considered on a case-by-case basis, or they can access the university's academic English courses to reach the necessary level for entry.
