Course overview

The University of Essex BSc Artificial Intelligence is an undergraduate programme which explains how data is obtained and interpreted using advanced tools. In this degree, students learn how data works, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. The modules provide an understanding of computing, automation, robotics, and system development. Students enrolled on this programme at the University of Essex also learn computer science, mathematics, and cognitive science to help develop intelligent systems.

Additionally, AI concepts such as machine learning, natural language processing, programming languages like Python, and computer vision, covered in this course, help students handle projects. By the end of the programme, they know AI and how to use it to innovate, build models, and solve data problems. In the third year, students also do an internship to gain experience in the IT field. Learning is through lectures, lab work, assignments, and group projects. Assessments include tests, exams, and lab reports.

Entry requirements

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold 120-112 UCAS tariff points from A-level qualifications. Those with BTEC, T-levels, International Baccalaureate of 30-29 points, or a combination of IB Diploma and BTECs may also be considered.

English Proficiency:

  • International students need an overall IELTS score of 6.0. Alternative English tests include TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or Cambridge English.
