MComp Computing Science with Year Abroad
Course overview
The University of East Anglia MComp Computing Science with Year Abroad course will provide students with a foundation in major computing principles, problem-solving, and professional software engineering practices. Students will learn modern programming languages such as Java and Python, which will prepare them to work in areas like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and robotics. The programme structure allows for specialisation in later years and is fully accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), conferring eligibility for Chartered IT Professional (CITP) registration.
You will learn through lectures, practical seminars, and laboratory sessions, emphasising hands-on, problem-based learning using industry-standard tools and practices. Assessment includes individual and group work, such as written reports, demonstrations, in-class tests, and a significant final-year research or industry-partnered project. The third year is spent studying overseas at a partner university, enhancing a global perspective, with assessment handled by the host institution.
