LLB Law Scots with Spanish

University of Dundee

Course overview

The LLB Law (Scots) with Spanish at the University of Dundee prepares students for the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, allowing them to qualify as solicitors or advocates in Scotland. Students can also apply for a Dual Qualifying degree to practice law in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland. Additionally, the program includes one Spanish module per semester, available at beginner or intensive levels.

Students will enjoy encouraging and supportive teaching, with a strong emphasis placed on group teaching by qualified lawyers. Teaching is done by lectures, tutorials, and independent and group study. Students will work more independently and take part in seminar discussions. In the final year, students will work on their dissertation, which is independent but supervised, on an elective topic. Assessment methods include presentations, moots, essay or drafting exercises, and tests on comprehension and interpretation of legal sources such as Acts of Parliament or case reports.
