BA Law and Economics
Course overview
The BA Law and Economics at the University of Derby allows students to explore the English legal system and its applications while learning how to apply economics to key business issues. They will gain a good understanding of how laws are made, how we reform them, and how to conduct legal research. Alongside this, they will study economics designed to explore the application of economic theory to real-life situations.
Students will have the opportunity to take an optional placement year to put their skills into practice in a real-world setting. The university will support them in finding a placement and throughout their time in the industry. Studying a Law and Economics Joint Honours degree allows them to choose whether to major in one subject or study them both equally.
By the end of their first year, students can then decide whether they would like to major or minor in a chosen subject or continue to study them both equally. Students will learn through a mix of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and student presentations.
