BA Event Management

The BA Event Management programme at the University of Derby is a three-year full-time course, with an option for a placement year where students can gain hands-on experience. This programme prepares students for the events industry, teaching them to adapt to changes and develop leadership and management skills. 

Through this course, students learn about event management with aspects of tourism and hospitality, as well as business topics like finance, marketing, and human resources. Students gain practical experience by completing tasks that reflect the real-world responsibilities of event professionals. 

They plan virtual, in-person, and hybrid events, create promotional materials, and use advanced tools like live streaming and virtual reality. The programme also explores the wider role of events in society, teaching students how they can bring communities together, tackle issues like inequality, and promote cultural exchange.

By the time they graduate, students will have built strong skills in project management, communication, and problem-solving. They will also have expertise in safety regulations and risk management, ensuring they can plan and run events successfully and safely.

Founded in 1851, the University of Derby transitioned from a training institution for schoolmistresses to a well-regarded university in 1992. Located in Derby, with additional campuses in Chesterfield and Buxton, it offers practical, industry-focused education across over 300 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Grade Requirements

• Minimum of 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A-Levels with a combination of grades BBC. Alternatively, equivalent qualifications such as T Levels, BTECs, or Access to HE Diplomas will also be accepted.

English Proficiency

• International candidates who are non-native English speakers are required to have an IELTS score of at least 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each area.

The tuition fee for international students enrolling in the University of Derby’s BA Event Management course is £16,900. Please note that this fee is for the 2025/26 academic year and may still be revised.

International students at the University of Derby can access various scholarships, bursaries, and discounts to help with their tuition costs. One of these is the GREAT scholarship programme, which offers £10,000 to eligible Indian students for a one-year postgraduate course starting in September 2025. Another option is the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship, which provides £2,000 deducted directly from first-year tuition fees.

Additionally, the Chevening scholarship is a valuable option, as it fully covers tuition fees, accommodation, and flights.
