PhD Forensic Science
Course overview
This is a postgraduate research degree where students make a genuine and original contribution to knowledge in forensic science, forensic anthropology, or forensic taphonomy. They will work on a research project of their choice and produce a long thesis under the guidance of two capacitated supervisors from the internationally renowned academic team.
The programme offers access to modern forensic facilities, which include the TRACES (Taphonomic Research in Anthropology: Centre for Experimental Studies) animal taphonomy research site and specialised labs built for genetics and analysis. This environment allows students to conduct data-driven research in their chosen area, preparing them for high-level academic or industry positions.
Entry requirements
Candidates are to submit a personal statement in which they clearly state their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information about their studies. An academic or employer reference is also needed. Students upload their CVs together with their applications to show their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
To apply, students must have a master's degree with merit or distinction in a relevant subject. The university might also accept them if they have significant and relevant professional experience instead of a master's degree.
English Language Requirements:
For international applicants who are non-English speakers, the standard requirement is an IELTS score of 6.5 overall (with no score less than 6.0 in any section). The specific requirement will be confirmed based on the area of research and the university's updated admissions criteria.
