BSc Nutrition with Foundation Year

University of Lancashire

Course overview

This four-year full-time degree begins with a foundation year that provides the essential academic knowledge and skills required for degree-level study, making it ideal for those without formal qualifications. The foundation year covers modules on sport, activity, and health, which deepens understanding of performance, wellbeing, and group dynamics before students progress to the Honours degree.

The main degree focuses on the critical link between poor nutrition and chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, which drives a growing demand for skilled nutritionists. Learning is delivered by nutrition experts and includes hands-on workshops in the physiology laboratory and specialised facilities for food chemistry and analysis.
