BSc Midwifery Short for Registered Nurses
Course overview
The BSc Midwifery (Short) for Registered Nurses at the University of Central Lancashire is an intensive, 20-month programme specifically designed to transform graduate registered nurses into registered midwives. This short course prepares you to meet the needs of modern maternity services, enabling you to help women, birthing people, and families enjoy positive and healthy pregnancy and birth experiences.
All aspects of the preconception and childbirth continuum are addressed through a rigorous theoretical preparation in the University and supervised practical work in a clinical setting. Studying BSc Midwifery (Short) for Registered Nurses from UCLan employs a blended learning model, split equally between theory and practice. You'll spend half of your time learning skills in clinical practice and the other half learning the theory. The course uses a case-based approach to learning, which facilitates the development of the high-level skills required of a competent midwife.
Within the programme, you have the opportunity to participate in an elective placement, which can be either national or international, allowing you to explore midwifery in a different setting. This course is fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
