MPH Public Health
Course overview
The Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Bradford teaches how health systems work and how health problems affect groups and communities. The course aims to help each student gain strong skills in research, policy, planning, and public-health action. It also teaches how social life, housing, income, work, and environment shape health. The course suits students from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, social science, life science, and other related fields. Full-time study lasts one year, giving steady training in public health work, health data use, and ways to plan good health services.
The course covers many areas that guide public-health thinking today. Each module links public-health theory with real problems seen in towns, cities, and health services.
Teaching staff give steady support so each student can learn how to use data, plan health action, and study real-world risk. Teaching uses lectures, guided workshops, small group tasks, online tools, and case study work. Students hear from staff who work in public health, research, and service planning.
The course uses many forms of assessment. These include short essays, case reports, posters, open-book tests, practical data tasks, seminar talks, and a long research project. The dissertation may use new data or a set of data already collected by trusted bodies. Staff guide the research process from question design to data work and final write-up. The aim is to teach sound public-health methods and honest research practice.
