BSc Sport and Exercise Science
Course overview
The BSc Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bedfordshire teaches the science of how the body performs and recovers. Students learn about movement, anatomy, nutrition, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and the social side of sport. The course uses labs, performance testing, real-life case studies, and fieldwork to help students understand how people train, perform, and stay well. In the first year, students study basic ideas like anatomy, psychology, movement, and performance. In later years, they go deeper into exercise testing, biomechanics, and how people adapt to exercise.
The course is taught using specialist labs, an environmental chamber, hydrostatic weighing, echocardiography, and 3D cameras to record movement. Learning is through lectures, lab sessions, gym work, and field trips. Students use high-performance tools and get real experience in places like the Human Performance Centre or Community Exercise Clinic. Assessment includes lab reports, presentations, written work, and performance testing.
The course is endorsed by BASES and CIMSPA, giving students professional standards in fitness instruction and personal training.

- Applicants typically need to have at least 112 UCAS tariff points, including 96 from at least 3 A-levels or equivalent.
