Course overview

Biochemistry has significantly advanced our comprehension of biological systems, leading to pivotal applications in human health and disease. This degree programme in Biochemistry aims to provide students with a current understanding of biological systems, preparing them with the knowledge and practical skills needed for a professional career in biochemistry.

The curriculum includes a Biochemical Techniques unit, where students learn to use equipment and methods common in the industry, which helps them become competent biochemists. For learning and assessment, the course focuses on practical application, which helps students gain hands-on experience through laboratory work and specific academic units.

In their final year, students learn about discoveries in biotechnology, and they also complete a personal research project, choosing from topics such as Biochemistry, Drug Discovery, Nutraceuticals, Human Genetics, or Computational Virology, demonstrating their acquired expertise.
