MA Games Arts

The MA Games Arts course is taught at UCA Farnham and is created to build on existing skills to provide students with the knowledge and abilities required to create advanced art for games or related industries. The coursework is both theory and practical, which allows students to build quality games and art projects. 

Students will learn to be ambitious, team leaders, and planners, researching the benefits of game-related artificial intelligence, virtual and enhanced reality environments, and the metaverse, including a focus on research and professional practice. 

Students either work on a group professional practice project or a creative business start-up, and for those who need to prepare for postgraduate study, an Integrated Pre-Masters course is available to improve academic and creative skills before the degree begins.

Founded in 2005, the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) has a history that goes back to 19th-century art schools in the south of England as a specialist art and design university with campuses across Surrey and Kent. The university's courses are respected by employers in the creative sector, and its old students include Oscar and BAFTA-winning filmmakers, respected fashion designers, and Turner Prize nominees.

The University for the Creative Arts offers courses at pre-degree, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, such as Architecture, Crafts, Fashion, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Art, Photography, Film, Media, and Creative Business. Candidates must submit a personal statement, academic or employer reference, and optionally, a CV to give a picture of their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

• Candidates need to have an Honours degree in Games Design, Animation, Computer Arts, Film & Media, Illustration, CGI and Visual Effects or a related field. 
• The university also accepts applicants without a degree if they have professional work experience.

English Proficiency:

• Candidates need an overall IELTS of 6.5, with no less than 5.5 in any section, or
• Other accepted tests include PTE, TOEFL and Duolingo.

For the MA Games Arts course at the University for the Creative Arts, the tuition fee for international students for the 2025/26 academic year is £18,000.
