PhD Clinical Education
Course overview
Swansea University’s PhD in Clinical Education is a three-year doctorate, which helps healthcare professionals learn new methods for diagnosing patients and administering treatment in clinics or other healthcare settings. This course is suitable for healthcare professionals seeking to develop their academic leadership, educational, and research skills.
In this programme, students undertake research to address the problems in clinical education or health professions education. They also develop new theories, test hypotheses, and publish writings that influence educational practices and policies in healthcare.
Additionally, students cover topics such as epidemiology, biostatistics, research design, and educational theory. By the end of the programme, graduates will submit and defend a research project to a committee.
Learning in this course is facilitated through physical lectures, online tutorials, small-group learning sessions, workshops, and seminars. Assessment methods include a written thesis and an oral examination, also known as viva voce.
