Course overview

At Sheffield Hallam University, the PhD in Psychology is all about original research, where students investigate a topic that has been approved in detail, analyse it critically and contribute new knowledge to the field. It is expected that students should add new knowledge to their field.

A team of supervisors will support and guide the students through their research. The students will carry out research on their own to keep themselves motivated and committed. Students will have a supportive research community and access to specialised facilities, including equipment for EEG, eye-tracking, and transcranial stimulation.

Being part of the research community allows students to contribute to and attend conferences and workshops. The programme is designed to teach students the skills they need for research in academic or professional settings.
