PHD Computing and Informatics

Course Overview

The PhD in Computing and Informatics is a full-time postgraduate research programme that runs for four years. The programme allows students to carry out independent research under supervision, with a goal to contribute to the field of artificial intelligence, data science, robotics, human-computer interaction, IoT, and more.

 

The programme is to prepare students to become independent researchers. Students will work closely with their supervisors, attend workshops and build the skills to contribute new knowledge to the field.

 

Students will learn through supervised study, independent research, seminars, workshops, mentoring sessions, and interdisciplinary conferences. The course also gives students access to the Industry and Innovation Research Institute (I2RI) facilities so they can access their support research in areas such as robotics, data mining, and sensor networks at the City Campus.

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

Candidates are to submit a postgraduate application form that includes a 1,500-word research proposal. A short presentation and interview are also part of the admission process.

 

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates should have a strong degree with a 2.1 or above, or a relevant master's qualification.

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates need an IELTS score of 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in each section.
  • Other English language test scores, such as PTE with an overall score of 67 and TOEFL IBT with an overall score of 100, are accepted, amongst others.
